STEM Academy courses are offered for students in grades 8–12, with the exception of Python for Girls, which is offered for middle school girls and non-binary students in grades 6–8. Priority for in-person and virtual courses goes to students from the state of Maryland.
For in-person courses: Reliable transportation to APL throughout the session is required. APL is not accessible by public transit.
For virtual courses: Reliable internet access as well as audio and visual capabilities. All students are required to have their cameras on their faces for the entire class.
Students must be committed to attending at least 10 of the 12 classes offered each session and meeting the time requirements for each class (5:00–6:30 p.m. ET). Students who do not meet the attendance requirement will not be eligible for a certificate of completion for the course.
