The NEAR Mission
Volume 19, Number 2 (April–June 1998)

The Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) mission was developed for NASA by APL. It is the first mission of NASA's Discovery Program, which emphasizes "faster, better, cheaper" planetary scientific missions. This issue of the Technical Digest is the first of two issues on the NEAR mission and primarily discusses the development of the instruments and spacecraft subsystems.
