Affinity groups enhance work life by providing outlets where people can celebrate their backgrounds and share their culture with colleagues, make connections and develop their careers. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)-focused teams in every department and sector identify and lead initiatives to promote a positive, diverse and inclusive culture. These teams, along with affinity groups and APL’s employee resource group, share input that shapes the Lab’s DEI strategy. APL encourages staff members to come together around shared interests, and volunteer opportunities are one more way they can advance causes that are most important to them. The Lab’s DEI ambassadors connect staff members with these groups and teams, and serve as trusted resources at APL on DEI topics.
