Tours
The APL STEM Office conducts a limited number of educational tours of the Laboratory for students in grades 8–12 each school year. APL tours show the students real-world applications of the lessons they are learning and give them an opportunity to meet and talk with APL STEM professionals about STEM careers. Tours will be conducted at the discretion of the APL STEM Program Office.
APL conducts one tour per month during the academic year. Slots fill quickly and open up on July 1 for the upcoming school year. Requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, but priority will be given to STEM-related groups and classes.
Tour Requests
- Tours require a minimum of 10 students and can accommodate a maximum of 24 visitors, including students, teachers, and chaperones.
- Requests for tours will be accepted from local public and private schools, groups and clubs such as the Girl/Boy Scouts, and home school groups. Requests for private tours for individuals will not be accepted.
- Tours will be conducted 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and typically last between two and three hours.
-
If a group consists of attendees who are not U.S. citizens, advance confirmation of green card and/or U.S. permanent resident status is required to proceed with tour scheduling.
- At this time, APL cannot provide tours for groups that include Foreign Nationals.
- Tour participants who are not U.S. citizens must bring their green card (U.S. Form I-551 or U.S. Permanent Resident Card). Failure to produce required documents at security check-in will result in either cancellation of the tour or denial of entrance to APL for individuals without complete identification.
