A main focus of my current work is assisting with development of the NASA mission to Jupiter's icy moon, Europa, to investigate its geology and habitability. I'm working with the instrument teams to develop the science measurement requirements for the mission and assisting with science related project activities. I am also part of the study for a landed mission on Europa. My research interests include modeling hydrothermal systems, fluid intrusions and fracture mechanics on Mars and icy moons. I am also interested in biosignatures and determining habitability in different environments. Currently, I'm working to develop a DNA extraction instrument for detecting extraterrestrial life as well as life here on Earth in extreme environments. Field work is also an avenue I pursue to validate my models and provide insight into the physics of geologic and biological processes here that are likely occuring on worlds other than our own. Outside of work, I enjoy running, soccer, flying airplanes, outreach and doing fun activities with my 3 kids and husband.
