My research is focused on the magnetospheres of the outer planets, including their planetary radiation belts and satellites.  My interests include the weathering of surfaces in space and how surface characteristics can be understood by optical measurements. An active topic in my work has been quantifying radiation effects on icy surfaces. My recent mission work included service as the Deputy PI for the Cassini/MIMI suite, and current mission work includes serving as a Co-Investigator on the Juno mission at Jupiter, a Co-I on the MISE instrument on Europa Clipper, and a Co-I on the Io Volcanic Observer (IVO), selected by NASA for a Phase A study in the Discovery program.
