  • Europa Program Manager responsible for managing the development of the Europa Clipper mission with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. NASA's Europa Clipper mission will conduct detailed reconnaissance of Jupiter's moon Europa to see whether the icy moon could harbor conditions suitable for life.

2003 – 2008: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

  • Served as the Deputy Engineering Director and managed more than 1300 civil servants and 800 contractors in performing engineering tasks, maturing technology and building hardware in support of NASA’s mission.
  • Managed the Earth System Science Pathfinder (ESSP) Program for the NASA Headquarters Earth Science Enterprise.The goal of the ESSP program is to stimulate new scientific understanding of the global Earth system through the development and operation of remote-sensing missions and to “Advance knowledge of Earth as a system to meet the challenges of environmental change, and to improve life on our planet”.

2000 – 2003: National Aeronautics and Space Administration Headquarters

  • Served as the Chief System Engineer for Earth Science and Program Division Director for the Earth Science Enterprise (ESE). Provided end-to-end system assessment of all Enterprise programs and projects and headed a Division of professional managers in the management of the development and operations of all NASA Earth Science mission and ground system efforts. The ESE is a NASA research program "to develop a scientific understanding of the Earth system and its response to natural and human-induced changes to enable improved prediction of climate, weather, and natural hazards for present and future generations.”

1975 – 2000: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

  • Provided administrative supervision to line supervisors in carrying out the mission of the Mission Integration & Planning Division that focused on proposal development, instrument management and mission development for the Center.
  • Provided administrative supervision to a staff of professional managers in carrying out the management of scientific space flight instrument and mission developments.
  • Managed the design, development, fabrication, and testing of a visible imaging spectrometer instrument for the Earth Observing System program.
  • Assembled, aligned and tested instruments for spaceflight, sounding rocket, balloon and aircraft applications.
